FLAKY BISCUITS | |
5 c. flour 3/4 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 3 tsp. baking powder 3 tbsp. sugar 1 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. lukewarm water 2 c. buttermilk Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar together in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and add to dry ingredients along with buttermilk. Mix, then work dough with a large spoon until all flour is moistened. Cover and store in refrigerator until ready to use. Take out as much dough as needed, roll out on floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. 6 dozen. |
