SWISS STEAK 
1-2 lb. inexpensive steak
5 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
3 tbsp. oil
1 lg. onion, sliced
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. vinegar
Cooked rice

Slice steak into thin strips, remove fat. Brown in oil. Add remaining ingredients, stir and simmer, covered on medium low 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hours depending on how long it takes your meat to become very tender. Serve over rice.
