RED VELVET CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 fluid oz. red food coloring
3 eggs
1 1/4 c. Crisco oil
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vinegar

Beat eggs. Add sugar, cooking oil and vinegar. Sift cake flour and soda together. Add flour to mixture and add buttermilk slowly. Add flavoring and coloring. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees in 3 greased and floured cake pans.

FROSTING:

1 box powdered sugar
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 stick butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Cream cheese and butter in mixer until smooth. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Then add flavoring and nuts. Frost cooled layers.
