BARBECUE PORK AND BEEF
SANDWICHES
 
1 1/2 lbs. beef for stew
2 c. chopped onions
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1/4 c. cider vinegar
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dry mustard
Several tomatoes, chopped
1 1/2 lbs. pork cubes
1 green pepper
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. chili powder
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Boston lettuce leaves

Mix all ingredients except tomatoes and lettuce, in 3 1/2 to 5 quart slow cooker. Cook on high (300 degrees) for 8 hours. With wire whisk, stir mixture until meat is shredded. To serve, line 12 (6") long hard rolls with leaves from Boston lettuce; fill with meat mixture. Sprinkle with chopped tomato. Serves 12.

VARIATION: To cook on range top, use 6 quart Dutch oven, prepare as above but add 1 cup water. Simmer 3 hours.
