CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT BARS 
LAYER #1:
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 c. almonds, chopped

Melt chocolate and butter. Cream eggs and sugar. Add flour and chocolate mixture to almonds. Bake in an 8 x 8 inch pan for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Turn oven off. Bake 4 minutes more.

LAYER #2:
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. butter
2 to 3 tbsp. cream
1 tsp. peppermint extract
Green (or red) food coloring

Cream sugar and butter. Blend in cream, peppermint and a little food coloring. Spread on cooked brownies still in the pan.

LAYER #3:
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
3 tbsp. butter

Melt chocolate and butter together and carefully pour over peppermint layer. Chill thoroughly. Carefully cut into small squares.
