RED VELVET CAKE 
Cake:

1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cups vegetable oil
2 tbsp. cocoa powder
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups flour
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Frosting:

5 tbsp. flour
1 cup milk
1 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cake Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Beat together oil, sugar and eggs. Make a paste of cocoa powder and coloring; add to beaten mixture.

Combine salt, vanilla, and buttermilk; add alternately with flour. Mix baking soda and vinegar and add last. Fold in, do NOT beat.

Bake for 30 minutes.

Frosting Preparation:

Cook together flour and milk until thickened. Cool. Add remaining ingredients and beat well.
