3 lb. beef chuck roast
Sprinkle light coating of Morton's chili powder, garlic powder, black pepper and salt. Rub in with hands. Then sprinkle flour generously over entire roast and rub it in. Put 1/3 cup cooking oil in roast pan and sear (on medium heat) on both sides. Reduce heat.
Slice 1 large onion over top. Peel: 2 lg. carrots
Place these whole or cut in 1/2 on top and around meat. Place 1/2 head (small) of cabbage right in middle on top. Pour 3 cups water over these all. Place in 325 degree oven and cook until tender (3 hours). You have your gravy in pot when done.
