APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 c. thick unsweetened applesauce
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. chopped seeded raisins

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and beat well. Add applesauce. Then sifted dry ingredients. Beat smooth and fold in raisins.

Bake in waxed paper lined 9x13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 45 or 55 minutes.

WHITE FROSTING:

2 1/2 tbsp. cake flour
1/2 c. milk

Cook until paste. Beat smooth. Cool. 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add flour to milk mixture when cool and beat until fluffy. Add 1/2 cup confectionery sugar - beat until fluffy.
