SOUR DOUGH BREAD | |
3/4 c. sugar 3 tbsp. instant potatoes 1 c. warm water Stir with a WOODEN SPOON, let it sit for 8 to 10 hours. Do not cover. Stir occasionally, if possible. Feed starter every TUESDAY AND FRIDAY. BREAD: Mix bread on Tuesday and Friday night in a large plastic bowl. Mix the following: 1/2 c. Mazola oil 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 c. warm water 1 c. starter food Stir well with a wooden spoon, then add 6 cups of Pillsbury bread flour. Using a very large plastic bowl which has been oiled, place the dough in bowl and cover with a cloth. Let this stand overnight in a warm place. Do NOT move the bread while it is rising. Next morning divide the dough into 3 parts, knead each part a few times on a floured surface. Place each part in a greased loaf pan and brush lightly with oil or butter. Let it rise in a warm place for 4 to 8 hours. Leave a cloth over it at least 4 to 5 hours. For the last 3 hours take the cloth off. Bake in a preheated oven at 300 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with butter. P.S. - Store the starter in refrigerator in a plastic container which has holes in the lid. Feed starter on Tuesday and Friday whether you make bread or not. |
