1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
3 well beaten eggs
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. baking powder, rounded

Cream sugars and shortening. Add eggs. Blend in dry ingredients alternately with 1 cup sour milk or buttermilk. Drop by tablespoon. Sprinkle with granulated sugar before baking. Bake 12 minutes at 375 degrees.
