1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
1 c. water
2 sq. semi-sweet chocolate

Mix in bowl first 4 ingredients. Heat and melt rest of ingredients. Add together and add 2 cups flour and 2 cups white sugar. Put in greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Frost with chocolate frosting.
