FLAT CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. plain flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
Dash of salt
1 c. Wesson oil
1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk

Combine flour, sugar, soda and salt in a large mixing bowl. In saucepan combine oil, butter, cocoa, water and vanilla. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Pour over flour mixture; blend well. Add eggs and buttermilk; blend well and pour in greased and floured oblong pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

ICING:

4 tbsp. cocoa
4 tbsp. milk
1 stick butter
1 box confectioners' sugar
1/2 c. nuts, finely chopped (opt.)

Combine cocoa, milk and butter in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and add confectioners' sugar. Stir in nuts, if desired. Pour over hot cake and cover with tin foil.
