CORN BREAD 
1 1/2 c. plain meal
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. to 1 c. sweet milk
1 c. shortening

Mix meal, salt, and baking powder thoroughly together. Add enough milk to make a nice pattie. Fry in shortening. Heat shortening on high but cut down heat to medium before frying. These fry out to a golden brown.
