FRUIT CAKE COOKIES 
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. chopped pecans
2 c. chopped dates
1 c. candied mixed fruits & peels
1 c. candied cherries, chopped
2/3 c. sour cream

Sift flour with salt and soda; cream shortening; add sugar gradually. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add flour and sour milk alternately. Add nuts and fruits; mix well. Chill dough for several hours and drop by spoonfuls about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 12 dozen cookies.
