APPLE BROWN BETTY 
3-4 c. sliced apple
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. flour
1/3-1/2 c. shortening
1/8-1/4 c. water
1 tsp. cinnamon

Grease an 8 or 9 inch baking dish. Put apples in dish. Add water. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Mix brown sugar and flour. Cut in shortening and blend until mixture is crumbly. Put sugar mixture over apples. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. May serve with dollop of ice cream or whip cream.

It has good flavor but the bread wouldn't get done no matter what I did. I tried the temperature in the recipe but the bread was doughy so I raised the temperature to 350°F and it still wasn't done. I let it stay in the oven for 20 minutes longer then the recipe said but the bread was still not done. So I gave up.
