LARRY'S EASY CORN BREAD 
1 c. self-rising cornmeal
1/2 c. self-rising flour
1 egg
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. melted shortening or bacon grease
1 tbsp. sugar

Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Pour into a well greased hot iron skillet. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.

This is my recipe too, but if you can find White Lily Self-Rising White Cormeal Mix (available only in some areas of the South, you will have the BEST cornbread on the face of the earth. Also, I put all the fat in the skillet and then get the skillet hot in the oven. I then pour most the hot batter back into the batter (stir fast) and then all goes into the hot greased skillet. Crispy on the outside and MOIST!

Quick and easy, and made the house smell like heaven! Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. I love the buttermilk in this recipe.
