APPLE BROWN BETTY 
8 to 10 c. fresh sliced apples (York or Stayman)
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 tbsp. nutmeg
1/2 tbsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. water

Put apples, sugar, raisins, nutmeg and cinnamon in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Mix cornstarch and water together. Add to apple mixture. Simmer until thickened. Pour into buttered 9x13 inch pan. Add topping.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 c. finely ground bread crumbs
1/2 stick butter, melted

Mix together, spread on apple mixture and bake at 450 degrees until lightly browned.
