CHOCOLATE SAUERKRAUT CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 c. rinsed and drained chopped sauerkraut
2/3 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. water

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with water. Add sauerkraut. Bake at 350 degrees.

ICING:

1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. milk

Add sifted powdered sugar and cook 1 minute. Add milk and let come to a full rolling boil. Remove from heat and cool. Add sifted powdered sugar.
