HONEYED PEAR BUTTER
3 fresh Bartlett pears, cored & chopped
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. honey
1 tsp. unsalted butter
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, 15 to 20 minutes or microwave, covered, in microwave-safe dish on HIGH (100%) 3 minutes or until pears are tender. Cool to room temperature. Drain pears; discard the juice and puree the pears. Store in refrigerator, covered, up to 2 weeks.

Makes about 1 pint.

TIP: Serve on bread or with grilled or roasted poultry or pork.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Honeyed Pear Butter

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I'm interested in learning to make pear butter. Wouldn't it make more sense to boil, drain, puree the pears and then add expensive ingredients like honey? I'd be hesitant to drain off and discard most of the honey, butter and cinnamon.

I cooked pears until tender. Drained. Added butter, cinnamon and artificial sweetener. It was very good. I allowed it to sit on the cabinet until cool and refrigerated. It had blended well and was delicious.
