ITALIAN CREAM CHEESE CAKE 
CAKE:

1 stick butter
1 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. coconut
1 c. nuts
5 beaten egg whites

Cream butter, Crisco and sugar. Add yolks, one at a time. Put soda in flour; add alternately with milk. Fold in egg whites that have been beaten until stiff. Add coconut, nuts, and vanilla. Pour into 3 (8 inch) round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

FROSTING:

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 stick butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

To make frosting, cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add sugar gradually. Add vanilla and nuts. Spread on cake.
