 Joanie (Oregon) says:
King's Golden Syrup contains high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). You can substitute regular corn syrup or honey, but be aware honey will change the flavor.

Instead of Kings Syrup use all molasses.

My friend made this cake and it was wonderful. I followed the directions to a "T". The middle of the cake was not baked through, I even left it in the oven longer. I did put the 9x13-inch on top of aluminum foil and, good thing, because it oozed over the top all over the foil. Any idea what could have happened??? Edges were a little burned and 1 1/2-inches into the cake was baked, but the center was not.

I had the same problem Cindy from PA did. I baked a total time of 75 minutes and the center never cooked. In the trash it went. And have to clean my oven. Not happy with this recipe.
