CHERRY BARS 
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
3 tbsp. powdered sugar
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. walnuts
1/2 c. maraschino cherries, chopped or halved
1/2 c. coconut

First Layer: Mix first 3 ingredients together in a 9 x 9 pan and press into bottom of pan.

Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F (325°F for glass pans).

Second Layer: Beat 2 eggs until light; add sugar slowly, then flour and baking powder. Fold in vanilla, walnuts, cherries and coconut. Pour over first mixture and bake at 350°F for 25 to 35 minutes. Cool and cut into bars, then roll in powdered sugar. Servings: 16.

Yield: Sixteen 9 x 9 pan.
