I didn't feel like dragging out all the bowls, etc. to make a "regular" frosting and thought I'd give this a try. It wasn't until I was part way through this that I realized that it cooked rather like a pudding, so I was very prepared to dislike this. The thought of chocolate being cooked without any kind of milk was a huge turnoff to me, but since I was already into it, I decided to finish it off; it in for a dime, in it for a dollar. Glad I didn't give up because this is quite tasty and easy to prepare, minimum fuss and muss. I think the reward is greater than the effort. I do miss the creaminess that milk adds, but overall this is a satisfactory frosting. I, too, turned the heat to medium.

Turned the heat up to thicken, I wonder if you all use gas? I have electric, which I think makes a difference. Yummy!

I liked it ... Great if you are out of confectionary sugar ... I added a few choc chips and a couple marshmallows ... Reminded me of Shoney's fudge cake topping from the 60's all you need is whipped cream and scoops of vanilla ice cream.

It is very good frosting, reminds me of the filling in lava cakes though.

The best frosting I have ever made...and I make all my own frostings! It's just the right amount of sweetness, and best of all, it tastes just like a rich fudge. Yum!

This frosting was so yummy!! Although it took a really long time to thicken, I had to put the temperature up to medium rather than low for the cornstarch to kick in.... Besides that, it was so easy!

This is truely a GREAT recipe. My boys came around wanting to lick the bowl as I was spreading it on the cake. I like the simple recipes like this.

Cannot BELIEVE how easy this was.... I cut the recipe in half as I only had 12 cupcakes to do.. and it was still perfect! Why would I buy icing?
