SMEAR KUCHEN (German Coffee
Cake)
 
6 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. water

In mixing bowl, put flour, sugar, salt and shortening like pie crust until crumbly, then add eggs, yeast and water; beat until fairly smooth. Knead until smooth, adding flour if needed. Let rise until light. Make into Smear Kuchen using a bunch of dough for 1 big pie. Push into pie tin.

FILLING:

1 (12 oz.) carton cottage cheese

Add: 1 egg, beaten with spoon Cooked prunes (equal amount like cheese), thicken juice if needed

Put in crust pie piece fashion - 4 of each or less or more. Bake at about 350- 375 degrees until done, nicely browned crust, about 35-40 minutes.
