SWEET & SOUR PORK CHOPS | |
4 lb. pork chops or spareribs (pork tenderloin) 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 c. cold water 1 1/2 c. pineapple juice 1/3 c. vinegar 1/3 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. soy sauce 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. chopped onion 1/3 c. chopped celery 1/3 c.chopped green pepper 1 garlic clove If using spareribs, cut into serving size pieces. Brush with oil and sprinkle salt on them. Place in shallot roasting pan. Broil both sides 6 inches from element for 15 minutes a side. Saute butter, onion, garlic, celery and pepper in medium pan for 5 minute.s Mix cornstarch and water in a cup and add to vegetables. Stir. Mix pineapple juice, sugar, vinegar and soy sauce and add to vegetables. Stir. Pour over meat in baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until tender. Baste occasionally. Serve with rice. Serves 6. |
