DELECTABLE DATE DROPS 
1 c. finely chopped dates
1/2 c. water
1 egg
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts

Combine dates and water, bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes. Cool. Set aside 2 tablespoons of date mixture for frosting. Beat in egg, sugar, butter and milk. Stir together flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Add to egg mixture. Stir in nuts. Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cool and frost with date frosting. Yield: 3 dozen.

DATE FROSTING:

3 tbsp. softened butter
1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. date mixture (reserved)
Milk

Beat all ingredients together and add enough milk to make spreadable.
