SPANISH RICE | |
2 lbs. ground beef 1 lg. can tomato sauce 3 c. rice, cooked 1 med. onion 1 med. bell pepper 2 strips bacon 2 tbsp. butter Chili powder Salt Pepper In large frying pan saute chopped-up onion, bell pepper and bacon in the butter. Add ground beef and brown. In the meantime cook the rice. Add tomato sauce to the browned meat then add the seasonings to taste. Add the cooked rice to the meat mixture. It is ready to eat now or it can be put in a casserole dish and baked in a 350 degree oven for 20 to 30 minutes. Serves at least 8. Other cooking oils or butter can be substituted for the butter. Or butter yet, to lower the fat content use only the meatiest part of the bacon and when the ground beef is browned drain off all the fat. |
