HOT FRIED APPLE PIES
1 pkg. dried apples
3 c. water
1/2 stick corn butter
1/2 c. sugar (optional)
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 lg. can refrigerated biscuits
1 1/2 c. corn oil
Powdered sugar (optional)

Cook apples in water until tender, about 1/2 hour. Mash apples and add sugar, butter and spices; stir well and set aside.

On floured board, roll each biscuit. Spoon 1/10 of apple mixture on half of each biscuit. Fold other half over and seal with a fork. Put corn oil in large iron skillet and fry 3 or 4 pies at a time in hot oil. Fry about 1 minute on each side, the hotter the oil the quicker it will brown.

Place pies on platter lined with paper towel. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired, or serve with a scoop of homemade ice cream. Serves 10.
