WEIHNACHTSKUCHEN (GERMAN) 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
5 eggs, separated
2 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. broken walnuts, candied cherries, candied pineapple

(This is one cup combined, not 1 cup of each!).

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating after each addition. Dredge fruits and nuts with about 2 tablespoons of the flour. Sift 1/2 of the remaining flour into batter. Add lemon juice, rind, vanilla and then the other half of the flour.

Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into the rather stiff mixture. Finally fold in fruits and nuts. Turn into two greased small long pans. Bake one hour at 325 degrees.
