FILLED COFFEE CAKE 
CAKE:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk or sour cream

Cream together butter, sugar, add eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk to first mixture. Add vanilla. Pour 1/2 batter into 9 x 9 greased pan. Top with 1/2 nut mixture. Add remaining batter and nut mixture. Bake 350 degrees 35 minutes. Do not overbake.

FILLING; NUT MIXTURE:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
2 1/2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together until blended.
