Sweet and Sour Sauce

Can you do Worcestershire sauce instead of soy sauce?

 Ben (Texas) says:
I only gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because the recipe did not say how to keep the cornstarch from clumping. I have no experience with cornstarch and when I first made this I had a ton of clumps. It still tasted amazing, but I looked gross. The second time I made it I mixed the cornstarch and cold water together first. Then I added everything else and heated it. Also, this needs to be whisked the entire time it is cooking because the hotter it gets, the more likely it is to clump. I hope this helps other people!! Best sweet and sour sauce I have ever tasted!!

To Ben in Texas - completely blend the cornstarch in with the water - then add this mixture to balance of ingredients and continue. This needs to be done with any recipe using
cornstarch. (blend it first with something else)

This was my first time making it and I browsed several recipes, but decided on this one. I was skeptical because the recipe is so easy, but it was fabulous. Thank you!

I added a few squirts of Sriracha to give it a little kick. Great sauce.

This really is the best sweet & sour sauce ever! Definitely a favorite in my house, since I started using this recipe about a year ago I've not used any other sweet & sour sauce.

 Dawn (California) says:
Good base recipe. I sometimes switch out the pineapple juice for fresh lemon juice for lemon chicken. Good with orange juice as well.

 Martha (Florida) says:
Made this many times. For a change, I used orange marmalade instead of pineapple and added a touch of garlic. I cut down on the sugar so it wasn't too sweet. It is great with pork and even shrimp.

Made this yesterday and used it on chicken broccoli stir fry. Very good. Next time I use it for stir fry I won't cook it first just mix it and cook it on the stir fry ingredients after the chicken is done. Good recipe though. Plan to use it when my vegan son comes to visit.
