“GRANDMA'S OATMEAL COOKIES” IS IN:

GRANDMA'S OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
1/2 cup cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
3 cups oatmeal
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup raisins
1 dozen cherries, chopped up
1 tablespoon kirsch, or cherry juice

Cream shortening with sugar, beaten eggs, cream, and vanilla. Sift together flour, oatmeal, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Add to wet ingredients and mix well. Add raisins, cherries, and kirsch or cherry juice. Mix until well-blended.

Chill about 1 hour in refrigerator. Drop by the teaspoonful onto a greased or lined baking sheet.

Bake about 8-10 minutes at 375°F.

Makes about 5-6 dozen.

I used butter flavored Shortening, and chocolate chips instead of the cherries. They are very light and hold their shape and the color is beautiful the don't get dark at all. Even though they are light in weight you will need a glass of ice cold milk as they are thick in taste, if that makes sense.
