1/2 c. chopped onion
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 c. melted butter
3/4 c. water
2 c. cornmeal
3 tbsp. sugar (optional)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk

Stir together all dry ingredients - add onion, then buttermilk and water, mix well. Then add egg and melted butter. Blend well. Drop by spoonsful into 370 degree oil. Cook until golden brown.
