PRE-COOKED HUSH PUPPIES 
2 c. corn meal
2 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. chopped onion
2 1/2 c. boiling water

Mix all ingredients, except water. Slowly pour into rapidly boiling water, stirring constantly. Cook until mush-like. Remove from heat. Shape, while hot, into 2 inch balls. (Keep hands wet with cold water while shaping.) Cool before browning in deep hot fat. May be made and kept in refrigerator several hours. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen.
