BROWN SUGAR FROSTING 
1 1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 c. milk (or half & half -liquid non dairy creamer is good too)
3 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Place first 3 ingredients in heavy saucepan. Mix until sugar is moistened. Bring to full boil, stirring occasionally. Boil exactly 3 minutes (soft ball stage). Remove from heat and add vanilla. Place pan in cool water in sink and beat contents until cool. This frosting thickens quickly once cool. If it gets too thick, add a small amount of milk and beat until spreadable. Frosts 9 inch cake.
