ELSIE'S TAVERNS 
6 lbs. ground beef
4 lg. onions, chopped

Brown ground beef and onions together, drain, add the following ingredients and simmer for 2 or 3 hours:

1 tbsp. dark vinegar
6 c. tomato juice
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 lg. family size bottle catsup
1/2 c. salad mustard
1/2 c. sugar, scant
1/2 c. oatmeal, scant

Mix together in roaster at 300 degrees. Simmer. Stir occasionally while it cooks. Oatmeal will help absorb extra fat.

Serves 50. Great for Tavern sandwiches.
