MEATBALLS 
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 tbsp. fine dry bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1 lg. garlic clove, minced
2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. oregano leaves, crushed
1 tbsp. shortening
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can tomato soup
1/2 c. water
1/3 finely chopped onion
Cooked rice or spaghetti

Combine beef, egg, bread crumbs, salt and pepper. Shape into 16 meatballs. In skillet brown meatballs in garlic, chili powder and oregano in shortening. Stir in soup, water and onion. Cover; cook over low heat 20 minutes or until done. Stir occasionally. Serve over rice or spaghetti. Makes about 3 1/2 cups. One half pound ground beef plus 1/2 pound ground pork can be substituted for one pound ground beef.
