AUNT ELLA'S SWEET AND SOUR
MEATBALLS

1 - 2 lb. ground beef
1 pkg. dehydrated onion soup
1/3 c. rice & 1/3 c. water, for 1 lb. ground beef
2/3 c. rice & 2/3 c. water, for 2 lb. ground beef
1 can cranberry sauce, jellied
1 can tomato soup, & 1 can water

Squash the ground beef, rice and water, and onion soup; mix thoroughly so that the onion soup and rice are distributed as evenly as possible. If the meat feels hard add more water. It has to hold its shape as a ball. Blend cranberry sauce and soup and water and heat in a large pot. Roll meat into balls, size optional. (May also add cut up cabbage if you like.) Cover and cook slowly about 1 1/2 hours after it starts to bubble around the edges. Since it takes the same onion soup, the same can of cranberries and soup to make either 1 or 2 pounds of meat, it's a good idea to use 2 pounds. Same amount of gas and cooking and you can freeze what you do not use. Be sure the meat is lean so that the gravy and meat do not taste greasy. Enjoy it!
