FRUIT CAKE COOKIES 
2/3 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1 lb. dates (cut up)
1 (4 oz.) pkg. candied cherries, halved
2 candied pineapple slices, cut up
1 1/2 c. pecans (less if you prefer)

Cream sugar and butter; add egg and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in fruit and nuts; chill batter.

Drop by slightly rounded tablespoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 minutes. (Makes approximately 4 dozen.)
