ANNA'S FRUIT CAKE COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter or Crisco
4 eggs
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 c. all purpose flour
3/4 to 1 c. fruit juice
1 lb. cherries
1 lb. pineapple
1 lb. fruit cube mix
1 lb. dates
1/2 lb. white raisins
6 c. pecans
3 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 3 tsp. sweet milk

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg yolks. Sift spices with 2 cups flour and add to creamed mixture alternately with fruit juice and sweet milk mixture. Dredge fruit and nuts with 1 cup flour. Pour batter over dredged fruit. Beat egg whites stiff and fold in last. Drop on greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes in 325 degree oven.
