CHERRY NUT BREAD 
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1/3 c. cut up maraschino cherries, well drained
1/2 c. shortening or oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. maraschino cherry juice

Cream sugar, shortening, and eggs until light. Stir dry ingredients together; blend in. Add milk and cherry juice. Stir until all ingredients are moistened and add nuts and cherries. Spread in well greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 65 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
