BASIL - MACE CARROTS 
1 lb. carrots, peeled & sliced
1 1/2 tsp. dried basil or tsp. fresh
1 tsp. ground mace
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. garlic, peeled & chopped
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. lemon juice

Melt butter. Place garlic in an 8 inch saute pan. Add carrots, basil, mace. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Add lemon juice, brown sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Cook until liquid is gone. The carrots are now al dente.

If you want the carrots cooked longer, add 1/4 cup water and 2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar and saute for a few minutes.
