CHERRY NUT BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 c. orange juice
1 tbsp. orange peel, grated
2 tbsp. warm water
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. halved "tart" cherries

Sift together flour, sugar and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Stir in egg, orange juice, orange peel and water. Fold in cherries and pour into greased 8 x 4 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bake one hour at 350 degrees. Cool thoroughly before slicing.
