SPLIT PEA TEMPURA 
1 c. split peas
A little fresh coriander leaves, chopped (mint or parsley can be used)
1 tbsp. cumin seeds
Pinch of baking soda
1 med. onion, chopped
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. fresh garlic, chopped

Soak split peas for 2 hours and then drain and chop in chopper until ground. Pour into a bowl and add rest of ingredients. Mix well and shape into small patties (about the size of a cookie). Deep fry in oil until crisp and brown.
