JOAN'S CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1 c. boiling water 3 sqs. semi-sweet chocolate 2 c. flour 2 c. sugar 1/2 to 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 2 eggs 1 c. Wesson oil 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. milk ICING: 3 c. powdered sugar 2/3 c. Hershey's chocolate syrup 2 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. hot water Boil water and pour over squares of chocolate. Sift together flour, sugar, salt and soda. Add above ingredients to the water and melted chocolate mixture. Beat in eggs, oil, vanilla and milk. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. ICING: Poke a lot of holes all over the cake through to the bottom of the pan. Pour icing over cake. It should run down into the holes as well as covering the top of the cake. This makes the cake more moist. Don't make holes too big, however, about the size of an ice pick in diameter. |
