ICE WATER CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 2 egg yolks, add whites later 2 sq. melted chocolate 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 c. ice cold water 1 tsp. vanilla 2 egg whites, beaten stiff 1 tsp. cream of tartar Cream together sugar and shortening well. Add egg yolks and melted chocolate; mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients, alternating with the ice cold water. Add vanilla. Add cream of tartar to beaten egg whites, fold into mixture. Bake layer pans 20-30 minutes. Bake loaf pan or 9 x 13 inch pan for 35-45 minutes. Oven temperature - 350 degrees. |
