SAUCEPAN CHOCOLATE COCONUT BARS 
A Moist Bar.

1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup shredded coconut flakes
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Melt margarine in a saucepan. Remove from heat. Add sugars and water. Blend. Stir in flour and baking powder. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Add nuts, coconut, and chocolate pieces, and stir lightly to combine. Pour into greased 9x9-inch pan.

Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool in pan. Cut into bars at serving time.

Makes 18 (1x3-inch) bars.
