2 c. sifted cake flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. applesauce
2 eggs, unbeaten
3/4 c. dates, chopped
3/4 c. raisins
3/4 c. nuts, chopped

Sift flour, sugar, soda, salt and cocoa into mixing bowl. Add shortening and applesauce. Beat well. Add eggs. Beat well, then add dates, nuts and raisins mix.

Put in tube pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour until done. If topping is desired, mix 1/4 cup nuts and 2 teaspoons sugar before you bake.
