CHOCOLATE ITALIAN COOKIES 
6 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
6 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. cocoa
Juice and grated rind of 1 orange
1 c. lard or shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. raisins
Milk - as much as needed, start with 1 c.

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream sugar and lard. Add all ingredients little at a time. Add juice, then enough milk so that you can roll cookies into little balls. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes.

Frost with white icing when cool and dip in coconut.
