EXTRA RICH SUGAR COOKIES 
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter. Gradually add confectioners' sugar. Add egg and vanilla; beat well, gradually adding dry ingredients. Chill dough overnight. Roll 1/8 inch thick. Best rolled between waxed papers. Put on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 6 minutes at 400 degrees. Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
